ArcheMedX and the University of Virginia School of Medicine Announce Collaboration And Launch First Education Series In Fetal Cardiology
Today at the American College of Cardiology’s 63rd Annual Scientific Session and Expo, the University of Virginia School of Medicine and ArcheMedX are unveiling an innovative online program designed to improve detection, diagnosis, and management strategies in Fetal Cardiology
Washington, DC (PRWEB) March 29, 2014
The Office of Continuing Medical Education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine (UVA) announced today a collaborative relationship with ArcheMedX to deliver innovative, comprehensive continuing medical education (CME) programs powered by the ArcheViewer, a data-driven, e-learning architecture. Their three-part series of online educational programs will launch during the American College of Cardiology’s 63rd Annual Scientific Session and Expo (ACC14) with a specific focus on improving, diagnosis, and treatment management strategies in Fetal Cardiology.
“There is a clear and pressing need for more effective education in Fetal Cardiology and our partnership with ArcheMedX has enabled the UVA School of Medicine to rapidly develop and launch an innovative series of online education programs powered by the ArcheViewer,” commented Jann Balmer, Director for Continuing Medical Education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Jann added, “By combining UVA’s world class faculty and content with the learning architecture and assessment tools provided by ArcheMedX, we are delivering a more impactful learning experience to clinicians across the globe.”
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics approximately 18 out of every 10,000 babies are born with a critical congenital heart defect (CCHD). In Virginia alone, there are 100,000 births per year resulting in 800 cases of congenital heart disease (CHD) with almost 400 babies having severe disease requiring intervention during infancy. This three-part online series provides independent, evidence-based learning activities on topics such as basic fetal physiology and left heart and right heart pathophysiology that are designed to help improve congenital heart disease detection rates in obstetrics and maternal fetal medicine offices through fetal cardiac screening processes.
“As a Charlottesville based e-learning company, we are delighted to work with the University of Virginia School of Medicine. ArcheMedX and UVA share a common mission to improve the delivery, assessment, and impact of professional medical education, and we look forward to working together on a variety of innovative educational programs”, said Joel Selzer, Co-Founder & CEO of ArcheMedX and a 2005 graduate of the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
Clinicians who participate in the three-part education series will have access to a personalized and structured set of learning tools that enable each learner to archive relevant lessons to their personal ‘learning stream’; to take and synchronize notes at any moment during the lesson; to set critical reminders with the click of a button, to submit questions directly to faculty; and to quickly search through relevant resources (i.e., articles and abstracts, practice support, and patient education tools) carefully selected by UVA’s nationally recognized faculty.
By measuring the learning actions taken by clinicians as they consume content delivered through the ArcheViewer, UVA Faculty and Educational Planners can rapidly assess the effectiveness of each program in real-time and continuously refine content to “nudge” learners in the right direction and to guide them to reflect and apply critical lessons to practice.
Access to all three lessons is available starting today and clinicians can register (free of charge) at tinyurl.com/uvafc. To learn more about the new CME programs and to see how the ArcheMedX platform and connected learning tools are being leveraged, please stop by booth #2116 at ACC14 for a live demonstration and to speak with team members from the UVA School of Medicine and ArcheMedX.
